Privacy Policy — Sugargoo Helper

Sugargoo Helper is a browser extension that helps you send Taobao, Weidian, 1688, and Tmall product links to Sugargoo, shows basic product details pulled from the page you're already viewing, and (beta) suggests which size to pick on Sugargoo product pages.

What the extension does with your data

• Page content: On Taobao, Weidian, 1688, and Tmall product pages, the extension reads visible text already on the page (price, review counts, store ratings, shipping info) to display it in an on-page info panel. This happens entirely inside your browser — none of this content is sent anywhere or stored outside your device.
• Sugargoo links: When you click "Add to Sugargoo" (or the equivalent right-click / highlight-to-open actions), the extension opens a new browser tab to sugargoo.com with the current product's URL and the developer's Sugargoo affiliate ID attached. This only happens when you take that action — nothing is sent automatically or in the background.
• Currency conversion: If you choose a non-CNY currency in the product info panel, the extension sends that currency code to api.frankfurter.dev, a free public exchange-rate API, to fetch current rates. No product data, browsing history, or personal information is included in that request.
• Sizing helper (beta): On Sugargoo product pages, the extension can read the seller's size-chart image and, using body measurements you choose to enter (height, weight, bust, waist, hip, shoulder, sleeve), suggest which size to pick. The image is read using on-device OCR (optical character recognition, via the open-source Tesseract.js library) — the picture never leaves your browser, and no image or measurement is sent to the developer or to Sugargoo. To load the size-chart image at all, the extension's background context fetches it directly from the seller's own image host (an alicdn.com or geilicdn.com CDN address — these hosts block normal page-level image reading, so the extension has to request the file itself the same way your browser already does to display it); the only other network request this feature makes is a one-time download of the OCR engine's language-data files from tessdata.projectnaptha.com, a third-party open-source project. Your entered measurements and the size results shown are saved only in chrome.storage.local on your device.
• Local preferences: The extension's on-page button position, your chosen display currency, and (for the sizing helper) your saved body measurements and remembered size results are saved using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local). This data stays on your device and in your browser profile — it is never transmitted to the developer or any third party.

What the extension does NOT do

• It does not collect or transmit your browsing history.
• It does not collect passwords, payment details, or account credentials.
• It does not track you across sites or build any profile of you.
• It does not use analytics, ads, or third-party trackers.
• It does not send your body measurements, the size-chart image, or any OCR result anywhere — the sizing helper runs entirely on your device.

Third parties involved

• sugargoo.com — receives the product URL and affiliate ID only when you click to open a product there. Governed by Sugargoo's own privacy policy.
• api.frankfurter.dev — receives only a currency code when you use the currency conversion feature. No personal or product data is sent.
• alicdn.com / geilicdn.com — these CDN hosts serve the seller's own product images. The extension's background context requests the specific size-chart image URL already present on the page you're viewing, purely to load its pixels for local OCR. No personal or product data is sent beyond the standard image request any browser makes to display a picture.
• tessdata.projectnaptha.com — hosts the open-source Tesseract.js OCR language files. The extension downloads these once (English + Simplified Chinese) to run OCR locally. No data is uploaded to this host.

This extension is built and maintained by an independent developer who participates in Sugargoo's affiliate program. Links opened through this extension include the developer's affiliate code, which may earn them a commission on resulting purchases, at no extra cost to you.
